On Wednesday, January 18^th, 2017, Janab Arif Ali, General Secretary, Vision 2016, handed over keys of first 5 houses as part of phase-1 of New Springs- Rehabilitation Project. Later, he inaugurated the second phase of the project. This project was conceptualized in early 2016, after the severe storms in Chennai, when Oruma decided to kick start Thiruvilangadu Social and Community Empowerment Program.  Janab Arif Ali stressed on how Islam directs every man and women on flow of money from the rich to poor through zakat and swadaka. He advised that Oruma should take steps to introduce self-help groups into the villages and urban poor so that there is sustained and equitable development in these communities. Later, the Masjid imam and secretary appreciated the work of Oruma and ensured all support in the activities to come. The local community of Thiruvilangadu welcomed the activities of Oruma with great enthusiasm.
